R Place delicious donuts – review (AD)

Delicious donuts delivered to your door almost sound too good to be true but I can confirm that the proof is definitely in the pudding (pardon the pun) and these ones from R Place are amazing!

R Place kindly gifted* me four donuts to devour in return for a fair and honest review.

About R Place donuts

The donut menu is surprisingly large and you really do feel spoilt for choice.

You can have a box of either 12 or 24 home made donuts with a choice of two flavours for the former and four for the latter – which I think are perfect for a party, celebration or even a meeting.

After much deliberation I opted for Ferrero Rocher, Honeycomb, Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Orange to sample.

The ladies kept me in the loop via text about when the delivery would be made and my dad kindly stayed in on a Friday afternoon to accept the goodies; as I was popping home for a visit.

R Place is run by two lovely ladies – Emily and Rachel. My dad said they were super friendly and polite when making the drop off.

They have converted a Bedford CF truck and serve speciality coffee, quality and local produce, milkshakes, donuts and classic rock tunes – what more could you want?!

I actually couldn’t wait to get to my parents house once I heard the delivery had been made.

As soon as you lift the lid the delicious aroma hits your nose and gets your tastebuds tingling in anticipation.

I decided to try the Honeycomb donut first.

The thick milk chocolate was smooth and creamy.

The honeycomb which was sprinkled on top had a good crunch and the donut itself was fluffy and light inside.

Steve and I enjoyed this one very much.

The next one we shared was the Chocolate Orange donut.

Again the milk chocolate was thick and creamy (no scrimping here) and the orange flavour continued right through to the donut itself. Very nice.

Steve isn’t a fan of nuts so the Forrero Rocher donut I got to enjoy all to myself!

You get a full sized Forrero Rocher in the middle of this donut and the sprinkling of nuts had a lovely crunch.

I really enjoyed this one.

Last but by no means least we shared the Strawberry Shortcake donut – it was very sweet and tasty featuring real strawberries too.

The strawberry flavour continued right through to the donut itself too.

Steve said this one might be a little too sweet for him but I enjoyed it so much so I forgot to take a picture before diving in!

My overall verdict

I have a sweet tooth and these donuts really did surpass my expectations.

The flavours weren’t overpowering and the donut itself light and fluffy and they are a great size – perfect for sharing (or not).

I enjoyed every flavour but if I had to pick a favourite I think I’d plump for the Forrero Rocher as it was that little bit extra special.

I would absolutely recommend R Place – not only are the donuts delicious but they are both so lovely, professional and friendly.

They deliver to Newcastle and the surrounding areas but are available to hire for events such as weddings and other functions.
