Chris Ramsey TV special – review

When Chris Ramsey announced he had a new live comedy show in the North East I couldn’t snap up my tickets fast enough.

On Thursday night we headed to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle for the 9pm slot and we were ready to laugh our socks off and hopefully not go into early labour!

Steve and I saw Chris Ramsey during his I’m Just Happy To Be Out Of The House tour when he came to the Arena in Newcastle, it was filmed for a live TV special too.

I’ve seen Chris live a few times now and he doesn’t disappoint.

Prior to the gig Steve and I headed back to Union Rooms for food, it’s handy before gigs and good value for money. We last ate here before seeing George Ezra live and here’s our review.

I hadn’t been to the Tyne Theatre for years, it’s a really lovely venue, very traditional and quite intimate too.

Before Chris came to the stage Jason Cook came out to warm up the crowd and give us some house rules as this was being recorded for a TV special.

Once we were warmed up Chris took to the stage.

The show was only meant to last about 70 minutes but he overran – we weren’t complaining.

I’m a big fan of his observational comedy and his stories about being a dad and husband.

If you’re fans of the ShaggedMarriedAnnoyed podcast some of the stories were familiar but he expanded more and everyone was in fits of laughter.

Like many other Geordies I’m a big fan of Chris’ wife Rosie and I follow her on Instagram she is bloody hilarious, down to earth and comes across as a lovely person.

She was the butt of quite a few jokes but I don’t think she’d mind!

I won’t spoil the show as it will be on TV at some point but the train story was brilliant and I think we all share a collective disdain for seagulls, although they have never touched my face!

However I don’t know if I will ever be able to eat chicken curry from the Chinese again – cheers Chris!

Thankfully I did not go into early labour and I think baby was enjoying my belly laughs.

It was well worth a late night for hubby and I and I’m looking forward to watching the show when it is aired on TV.
