25 self-care ideas for Spring

25 self-care ideas for Spring

31st March 2019 16 By Rachael Stray

With longer lighter days it feels like the perfect opportunity to take time for your self and reintroduce some me-time so I thought I’d share my self-care ideas for Spring with you.

Self-care ideas for Spring

  1. Purge your wardrobe it’s so cathartic. I’m on a decluttering mission and here’s my 10 tips to help declutter your home.
  2. Invest in a couple of new clothing items now you have some space in your wardrobe! I love all the pastel colours that are in the shops at this time of year. Adding some colour to my wardrobe after the dullness of winter always perks my mood.
  3. Open the windows in your home and let the air flow throughout the house. Honestly it really does make a difference.
  4. Create a spring playlist with upbeat tunes which you can use as motivation to declutter or exercise!
  5. Light a spring-scented candle and take time to relax and enjoy the smell.
  6. Write your bucket list for the rest of the year this gives you things to look forward to. I’m a big fan of a bucket list, here’s how I got on with my 30 things before 30 bucket list.
  7. Use a body scrub in the shower to help revitalise your skin. I’m a big fan of the Soap and Glory sugar scrub.

  8. Try out a new workout routine or take up new exercise. Last Spring the hubby and I started our Great North Run training, here’s a final update on taking on the Great North Run.
  9. Schedule a coffee date (or hot chocolate in my case) with your bestie. Even if it’s just an hour after work you’ll both feel the benefit of spending some quality time together.

    Flowers brighten up any room

  10. Get some fresh blooms for your home whether new plants or even just a bunch of flowers from your local supermarket. Bringing some nature inside really helps me. My hubby buys me a fresh bunch of flowers every week.
  11. Spruce up your garden and get a free workout – plant some flowers or create a vegetable garden and then you’ve got a relaxing outside space to enjoy throughout the warmer months.
  12. Deep clean your house (not all at once – set a realistic schedule) and keep on top of any clutter.
  13. Go out and explore where you live. Last year I tried to showcase the fabulous North East to by hubby on days out whenever we could.

  14. Reflect on life – where you’re at and what you’ve learned recently and think about some goals for the rest of the year. Perhaps you’ll want to write things down in a diary or journal?
  15. Create a sacred place in your home where you can relax. This might mean investing in some nice cushions, a good book and a cosy blanket. You can pick up some lovely home ware items for fairly cheap from supermarkets and of course Primark!
  16. Keep on top of your health. When was the last time you had a check up at the dentist or doctor? Make appointments and go to them.

    Picky bits dinner party

  17. Host a small dinner party in your home for friends. My friends and I prefer nights in over nights out these days and we take it in turns to host. It doesn’t have to be fancy food it’s about spending time together.
  18. Go on a hike or for a walk in the park and take advantage of those longer lighter days.
  19. Clean out your car and get a new air freshener for it.
  20. Take the time to curl up with a good book. I’ve been reading more paperbacks thanks to my Reading in Heels subscription. I also keep my Kindle up to date using Bookbub.
  21. Unplug from the online world as much as you can. I put the do not disturb mode on my phone and I’m keeping track of my screen time too. I’m trying to make an effort to be more present.
  22. Start a new hobby and make regular time for it. This might be crafting, exercising or even listening to podcast.
  23. Go on a picnic even if it’s al fresco dining in your garden. Get outside and make the most of the lighter days.
  24. Take a bubble bath accompanied by soothing music, your favourite products and a nice scented candle.
  25. Try meditation. I want to try harder to get into meditation. It’s not something that comes easy to everyone but it can help a lot of people. The Headspace App has 10 free sessions to try before you buy. Or if you have an iPhone you can try this Forest app where you can earn coins through meditation for certain amounts of time, and then you can spend them planting trees in real life.

If you’re feeling stressed here’s my tips to de-stress.

I think it’s really important to take some time out every now and again to look after yourself.
