Dream home improvements (AD)

Dream home improvements (AD)

19th May 2019 9 By Rachael Stray

We are now fully in getting ready for baby’s arrival mode now which has got me thinking about what dream home improvements I’d love to make!

Back in January my decluttering mission began. I don’t think you can start making improvements to your home without making room and taking stock.

Here’s my 10 tips to declutter which I hope you find helpful too.

We spent the first few weekends of January really getting to grips with our clutter and now it’s so much easier to just keep on top of it on a weekly basis.

I find just doing little bits at a time really helps to keep on top of things and doesn’t get you too stressed!

We’re fortunate as our house is fairly new; it’s six years old so we’re quite lucky that we didn’t need to do any major home improvements to get ready for baby’s impending arrival.

That being said, it certainly doesn’t stop me from thinking of what my dream home improvements would be though!

I’ll share what decorating we’ve had done in an upcoming post once the nursery is complete and we’ve put up the last of our pictures and things.

My dream home improvements

Sash windows

If we did need new windows I’d love replacement sash windows.

I think they add so much character and charm and while they look classic and traditional the new ones are also energy efficient too – win win!

Windows are really important in any home to help keep the heat in and cool things down in the summer as well as to keep your home secure too.

I’ve already shared some really handy tips to tackle condensation in your home which you can catch up with here.

Window seat

While we’re talking about windows I’m an avid reader and I love the idea of having a little reading nook to hide myself away in while I get lost in my latest book.

I would absolutely love a window seat but instead I make do with our bay window and our ottoman. Not quite the same thing!

For my 30th Steve kindly got me a six month subscription to a special book delivery Reading in Heels so I’ve been making my way through lots of lovely paperbacks. Here’s what I think of the Reading in Heels subscription.

Roll top bath

I’m trying to be better with my self-care routine and one of my favourite ways to relax is to have a nice bubble bath with my favourite products while listening to a podcast.

bathtub-902361_960_720.jpgI’ve always loved the idea of a roll top bath, they just seem so elegant. But for now I just stick with our standard bath which does the trick! If you need some inspiration here’s my 25 self-care ideas for Spring.

Walk in wardrobe

I’m a big Sex and the City fan and I always envied Carrie’s walk in wardrobe. I would absolutely love one of my own. I’d actually want mine to be more organised than hers though!

The one Mr Big has built for her (in the home they never actually live in) would be more along the lines of what I would love.

Dressing room

What I would really love is to pick my outfit from my walk in wardrobe and head through to my dressing room to get ready in style.
