Beacon Burgers STACK review

I love a good burger and couldn’t wait to see what options STACK would offer shortly after it opened.

STACK is a fairly new edition to the centre of Newcastle which opened in August 2018 and is a collection of independent local shops, restaurants and bars – it’s a bit quirky and I really like it.

So the day before we took on the Great North Run we got some last minute essentials from town and decided to carb load with some food in STACK.

It’s made up of lots of different units and there’s a good range of choice on the food front.

Avid readers will know back in December I was invited to House of Botanics within STACK for a Christmas wreath making workshop. 

What makes Beacon Burgers stand out from the crowd?

They make their own burgers from outdoor-reared, grass-fed Northumberland beef and use only freshly-baked artisan bread.

To keep everything as North East centric as possible they try to ensure ingredients come from within a 40-mile radius.

The menu ranges from the traditional (an Angus steak burger in a toasted bun with lettuce and tomato), to more luxurious combinations like the Texan with smoky bacon, cheese and barbecue sauce; the Diablo dripping with jalapenos, cheese and hot Thai sriracha sauce; and the Californian topped with guacamole, cheese and chipotle.

We decided to go for the traditional on our visit and we weren’t disappointed.

My overall thoughts on Beacon Burgers

Service was friendly and fairly quick despite it being a busy sunny Saturday.

The burgers were juicy and cooked to perfection.

We both ate every bite.

I’d definitely pay another visit!

Where is Beacon Burgers?

Mobile street food is where they began, and they are committed to keeping the mobile truck on the road.

They operate the restaurant alongside an increasingly busy schedule of festivals and events around the UK.

The restaurant is upstairs in STACK in the heart of Newcastle city centre.
