Festive favourites from 2020

Christmas may be over for another year but I thought I’d reflect on my festive favourites from 2020.

I did this last year when I looked back on my festive favourites from 2019, festive favourites from 2018  and my festive favourites from 2017.

Festive favourites from 2020

Christmas 2020 was a very different occasion much like the rest of this year!

Despite the on-going restrictions and challenges of covid, we were determined to make Christmas special for Elsie.

On Christmas Eve, Elsie opened her special box which we had made for her last year with goodies inside.

Steve and I also had our own Christmas Eve box filled with goodies from my parents and some treats I’d put together.

I couldn’t track down matching pyjamas for us but we still had new ones for Christmas Eve.

Elsie and I had matching and I bought Steve some Mickey Mouse pjs so it was a Mickey theme!

We had planned on spending Boxing Day with my family in similar celebrations to 2019 however Boris changed the rules again so we weren’t able to.

Instead my parents came over for an hour or so to watch Elsie opening her presents in the morning.

We video called Steve’s sister who had his parents with them for Christmas Day so they were able to watch Elsie opening her presents off them.

And we video called my family in the afternoon.

I’m so glad we invested in a Facebook portal back in January, it’s been our best purchase this year by far.

Elsie enjoyed her first ever Christmas Dinner, Steve did a cracking job.

It was delicious and Elsie ate most of it.

We let Elsie set the pace of the day and open presents when she wanted to as to not overwhelm her.

Elsie has been really spoilt with lovely gifts from family and friends and we are once again bowled over with everyone’s generosity.

We had a really lovely Christmas with Elsie despite the restrictions.

The tree and decorations will be coming down soon and we’ll try to organise the mountain of new toys and clothes Elsie received!

I am looking forward to a few days off from work and some quality family time.
