Vixen Kylie Lip Kit Review

Hello everyone!

I hope you’re all doing wonderfully and thanks to Rachael for having me on her blog today.

I’m Sophie and I’m a bit of an everything blogger over at Soph.Creates!

I write about everything from my favourite beauty products to video games to how to be an adult.

If you’re interested in anything come on over otherwise grab your make-up bags and wallets and let’s talk about my number one go-to lip kit: Vixen by Kylie Cosmetics.

It all started a couple of Christmases ago when my best friend gifted me a tester-size version of the Vixen lip kit!

My first thoughts were “oh my gosh, this is literally the darkest lipstick ever WHEN WOULD I EVER WEAR THIS!?”

Turns out, I would literally wear this everyday for the next two years (and counting).

As with all Kylie Lip Kits, Vixen comes with its own matching lip liner with the liquid lipstick in a little slender bottle.

The brush head is a sponge applicator and helps the formula go on really smoothly.

In the bottle it looks like a dark brown, but when you put it on it’s actually a dark purple, kind of like an aubergine.

If you’re brown like me it compliments our skin-tone so nicely, which I find quite tough to find in lipsticks and therefore is my go-to everyday lip colour!

For my fair skinned friends out there, never fear – if you’re after a bold lip this is the way to go.

In terms of formula, it’s not drying, it’s long-lasting, and it smells fantastic.

For the other long-lasting formulas I’ve tried like the Maybelline 24-Hour Lip Stain, they are super drying and start to flake off after a couple of hours.

However with the Vixen Lip Kit, it just stays, and stays, and stays!

The only issue you might encounter is “butthole lip” (when the lipstick peels off your waterline and when you pucker it looks like a butthole) after eating but generally if you’re just going to sip on a Starbucks you won’t need to top it up.

Lastly, it just smells great.

I find most lipsticks to have that real “cosmetic” smell, but this smells like chocolatey-vanilla-y goodness.

The only downfall of this lip kit is the price because if you’re outside of the US, the tax you have to pay on it as an international item almost doesn’t feel worth the hassle.

Having said that, I truly believe in paying for quality and the price tag definitely reflects the quality of the product.

Since getting that Christmas gift two years ago, I’ve ordered myself two replacement lip kits as I just keep going for it.

With the holidays coming up, I would totally recommend browsing the Kylie Cosmetics website and grabbing some of those tester-sized bottles as they not only make fabulous mini-gifts but it’s a great way to see if Kylie Cosmetics works for you before splurging on the full set.

And that’s all, folks!

I hope you join me on the Kylie Cosmetics bandwagon as I absolutely swear by her lip kits for everything from casual days to big events.
