My overall thoughts on Toxic Deception
I really enjoyed this book – devouring it in just one day.
Jordan Reed is a junior reporter at her local newspaper who loves to figure out puzzles.
After her morning swim she comes home to find a mysterious envelope taped to her door inside is an obituary circled and her curiosity and nose for news starts her on a crazy path of corruption, cover-up and casualties.
I liked Jordan as a character as a former reporter myself I could put myself in her shoes quite a bit.
I do feel she’s quite naive and a little too trusting and I questioned some of her decision making but without her decisions the story wouldn’t have panned out quite the same.
As Jordan starts to delve deeper into Eric Smith’s death the danger starts to ramp up.
Who is following her?
Was Eric’s death part of something even more sinister?
Will Jordan lose her job?
How far and how much is she willing to risk to expose the truth and will anyone else get hurt in the process?
I found this a fast paced page turner and felt myself hungry for more.
The other two main characters Charlie and Travis help Jordan to piece together the pieces of the mystery.
But is Emma really a friend or is she a foe?
The epilogue definitely left you wanting more.

Despite being a lifelong lover of stories and books, writing took a distant back seat as his professional career travelled through the Canadian Air Force, a decade as a chemist, followed by a long and continuing run in corporate America.
With writing no longer in the back seat (but not quite yet in the front seat), Kevin how has the Jordan Reed series well under way.
