My overall thoughts on Lake Effect

This was a great follow up to Toxic Deception which I enjoyed.

Reporter Jordan Reed is back and we pick up with her several months after her huge story on the collapse of a pharmaceutical factory was published.

She’s desperate for a break after gaining lots of attention following her big scoop and heads to Copper Lake ahead of the Fourth of July celebrations; after her friend Travis convinces her it’s not only a beautiful relaxing place but there could be a story for her to sniff out.

Jordan ropes in her friends Travis and Charlie once again and invites her sister Rachel to stay with her at the picturesque lake to provide some kudos to her cover story.

Once again Jordan ends up sniffing out a bigger story than she first thought. There is definitely more going on in Copper Lake than some mysterious dead fish.

Corruption, illegal animal testing, orchestrated “accidents” to force the marina’s owner Mike to sell up and murder to name but a few.

Just what is really going on in Copper Lake?

Jordan is on the case.

There’s plenty of twists and turns from K.C Gillis and Jordan ends up in hot water more than once.

This time she’s up against a mob family and a state senator.

As with Toxic Deception you find yourself asking just how far and how much is she willing to risk to expose the truth and will anyone else get hurt in the process?

K.C. (Kevin) Gillis is the author of the Jordan Reed mystery series. Despite being a lifelong lover of stories and books, writing took a distant back seat as his professional career travelled through the Canadian Air Force, a decade as a chemist, followed by a long and continuing run in corporate America.

With writing no longer in the back seat (but not quite yet in the front seat), Kevin now has the Jordan Reed series well under way. His personal interests focus on endurance and water sports.
