My overall thoughts on No Place Like Home

I really like Jane Renshaw’s writing style and having thoroughly enjoyed The Child Who Never Was I was excited to read No Place Like Home.

The book opens with a shocking murder which we learn more about as the story progresses.

Bram wants nothing more than to have his family safe and thriving and for a fresh start.

So the family build their dream home and move from the hustle and bustle of London to serene Scotland – back to his wife Kirsty’s home town.

But almost immediately things start to go horribly wrong.

Someone is harassing them, but why?

Who are they and what do they want?

The harassment also continues on Bram’s blog with trolling comments mirroring the nasty real life events on screen.

Is this harassment connected to the shocking secret his wife Kirstie has been hiding for all these years?

Bram’s father in law questions his masculinity- “are you a man or a mouse?” and he feels like everyone is turning on the family.

We have flashbacks to when Bram and Kirsty first met at university as well as present day action.

As the tension mounts and tempers begin fray, are they a strong enough as a family to get through this or will it tear them apart?

About the author Jane Renshaw

As a child, Jane spent a lot of time in elaborate Lego worlds populated by tiny plastic animals and people.

Crime levels were high, especially after the Dragon brothers set themselves up as vets and started murdering the animals in their ‘care’. (They got away with it by propping the victims up with Plasticine and pretending they were still alive…)

As an adult, she is still playing in imaginary worlds and putting her characters through hell – but now she can call it ‘writing’ and convince herself that she is doing something sensible.

In real life, she has a PhD in genetics and copy-edits scientific and medical journals.

Jane is the author of Watch Over Me. NO PLACE LIKE HOME will be her third novel published with Inkubator Books.
