We enjoyed our first Fireside Stories with Father Christmas at Raby Castle so thought I’d share an honest review.

Delight in the magic of Christmas with a special visit to see Father Christmas in Raby Castle’s Grand Entrance Hall.
Begin your journey as attentive footmen guide you through the castle grounds, leading you to the beautifully decorated entrance.
Marvel at the sight of twinkling lights, shimmering baubles, and festive garlands that adorn the castle, creating a breath-taking holiday ambiance.
As you enter the Grand Entrance Hall, the air fills with anticipation and excitement.
Gather by the cosy fireplace, where the crackling fire casts a warm and inviting glow.
Here, amidst the splendid holiday décor, Father Christmas will delight children and adults alike with his enchanting storytelling.
The atmosphere is alive with laughter and fun, as families and friends come together to share in this special experience.
What did we think of Fireside Stories with Father christmas at Raby Castle?
We attended the Fireside Stories with Father Christmas at Raby Castle on Sunday 8 December despite the lashing down rain and it was absolutely enchanting!
This is, without doubt, one of the best Christmas events we’ve ever experienced.
The attention to detail is exceptional from start to finish, creating memories to cherish.
We went into the Raby estate and were warmly greeted by friendly staff who ticked us off the list for Fireside Stories with Father Christmas and double checking Elsie’s age.
As we were early we headed to the gift shop first for a mooch, it is beautiful.
We made a note of what decorations we wanted to buy and then after a quick loo break, we joined the others waiting at the meeting point next to the cafe.
The Fireside Stories experience began with a footman ringing a bell to greet us at the meeting point.
She then led us on a picturesque walk through the deer park to the castle.
On arrival at the castle, the children were invited to knock on the grand door and were greeted warmly by another footman.
We were then guided to a beautifully festive room, complete with a roaring fire and stunningly decorated Christmas trees.
There were rows of smaller chairs for the children to sit on at the front and standard sized chairs for the grown ups behind.
Elsie sat in the front row by herself and we found two chairs together a few rows back.
I was pleasantly surprised to see her sitting with the other children independently and she joined in with the singing.
What made this event stand out was the time and care given to each family.
This wasn’t a quick photo opportunity with Santa.
Father Christmas told stories, sang songs with us, called children by their names, chatted with them, and presented thoughtful gifts.
Elsie was the last child to receive a gift but she patiently waited for Father Christmas to call her name.
The children felt truly seen and special.
Father Christmas was absolutely brilliant, so patient with the children and very funny.
The experience ended with photos by the Christmas tree, leaving us with beautiful memories.
Every element of the event was perfectly curated, from the magical setting to the heartfelt interactions.
It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the true spirit of Christmas!
After having our photo taken by Beans one of the footmen, we headed back towards the main car park for our Plotter’s Forest trail slot.
It had been Storm Darragh that weekend so everything was pretty muddy and soggy so we had a play and explore for about an hour and then with stomachs rumbling, we made our way to the Vinery for lunch.
We were warmly welcomed in the warmth by a member of staff and nabbed a table by the window.
I grabbed a children’s lunchbox for Elsie which had a ham sandwich, Oreo biscuits, a packet of crisps, an apple and a Fruit Shoot.
Steve and I plumped for the hot pulled pork baguettes and crisps.
I thought the food was fairly priced considering you’re a captive audience and delicious.
Elsie loved her present from Father Christmas a Christmas Eve box of activities.
With full tummies we made our way back to the gift shop to purchase some decorations for the tree which were reasonably priced.
Raby Castle at Christmas is enchanting, I think we will be back next December!
