We were kindly given a paperback book Fabulous Fifi The Flamenco Flamingo by Alice Corrie and Ipek Konak in exchange for an honest review*.
Elsie may not look anything like me but she certainly has the avid reader trait that I do and was so excited to sit down and read Fabulous Fifi The Flamenco Flamingo together.

When Fifi tries to dance in front of the other flamingos, her flappy, flippy-floppy legs fail and they all fall about laughing at her.
As she sets off on her quest to find her calling, she discovers the Flamenco Fiesta.
The crowds all love Fifi’s unique style of dancing and she becomes a fabulous, fantastic fashionable ‘Flamenco Flamingo’!
My overall thoughts on Fabulous Fifi The Flamenco Flamingo
I really love how vibrant and bright this book is and as soon as she saw it, Elsie couldn’t wait to cuddle up to read this story together.
The illustrations really bring the story to life for little ones and helped captivate Elsie’s attention and imagination.
And the alliteration and repetition were fun to read and for her to listen to.
This book has such a feel-good factor to it and when reading it you can’t help but smile.
The story really brings home that idea of never giving up on your dreams even when people try to put you down or belittle your talent – a story with such an important life lesson!
I think that everyone needs to be a bit more Fifi!
This is a lovely book to add to our collection and one that both Elsie and I recommend.
About the author and illustrator
Having edited picture books in publishing for almost twenty years, Alice Corrie began her career at PRH and went freelance in 2010.
Now working from her home in Berlin.
Fabulous Fifi The Flamenco Flamingo is her debut as an author.
Ipek Konak has produced illustration for a range of clients including Apple and OUP and was featured as a guest Goodle Doodle artist.
She has a fine arts degree in animation and has worked on several picture books in her home market of Turkey.
And she currently lives in Istanbul.
