Elsie’s first under water photoshoot
As part of her chapter 1 swimming lessons with Water Babies Elsie had her first under water photoshoot.
Elsie was just 7 weeks old when I was gifted a free taster session with Water Babies to see if we would like to start swimming lessons*.
After that initial taster session and how much Elsie and I enjoyed it I signed us up for chapter 1 – a block of 10 swimming lessons.
You can read more about my thoughts on Elsie’s chapter 1 swimming lessons.
At the end of chapter 1 you have the opportunity to take part in an under water photoshoot which is included in the price of your lessons.
The photoshoot wasn’t at the pool where we have our usual lessons so we travelled to the Education Village in Darlington.
It was the same day as the Rugby World Cup final so Steve issued a radio ban so we wouldn’t hear any spoilers – he had recorded the match to watch as live when we returned home.
I bet he wished he hadn’t bothered given the scoreline!
You’re given a time slot (which we chose) so Elsie and I got changed and headed to the pool me in my Hunkemoller swimsuit and Elsie in her Water Babies double happy nappy.
The set up is similar to a normal lesson there’s a Water Babies swimming instructor and a small number of you in the pool.
We did a warm up, sang the same songs as we usually do and the difference being you do freestyle around the pool until its your turn to get snapped.
Each parent is given a number and when your number was called you broke away from the group and headed to the picture area of the pool.
I stood behind the photographer and went under the water to watch Elsie swimming submerged and getting photographed, then we headed back into the group until we were called again.
Elsie was a champ and didn’t make a fuss of being submerged and photographed a couple of times.

Once our session was over and the photographer was happy she’d bagged what she needed it was time to get out of the pool.
We got dry and changed and headed to the viewing room for some refreshments while we waited for our photos to be ready to view.
It was tough to whittle it down to just a couple of photos but we managed and selected just four photos. We paid for the photos which were then sent electronically via email a couple of weeks later.

We’re now well into our chapter 3 sessions where we are learning new songs, techniques and swimming positions.
I would absolutely recommend Water Babies lessons, you’re teaching your child vital life saving skills, gaining their confidence in water as well as creating a great bonding opportunity too.

*Disclaimer
I was gifted a free taster session with Water Babies, complimentary tickets to the Bump and Me Afternoon Tea and one Water Babies double happy nappy; however I have paid in full for Elsie’s chapter 1, 2 and 3 lessons and my thoughts on our lessons and the under water photoshoot are completely my own.

In retrospect I really do wish I had done something like water babies. the idea of it terrified me at the time, but now it’s one of the major things I urge new moms to do! <3 So glad you have found so much joy in it too!
I am not a confident swimmer so I really want Elsie to be. The instructors are brilliant and it’s so incredibly safe.
Who even knew this was a thing? LOL
She even makes an adorable swimmer and looks like she’s so comfortable in the water. This Water Babies group certainly knows what they are doing.
Beautiful photos 🥰 Elsie is so adorable, always smiling and looking happy.
She is such a happy little girl 😊
