My overall thoughts on Daisy Chain
I thoroughly enjoyed Daisy Chain and getting to know DCI Kath Fortune and her new Cold Case team.
Daisy Chain had everything you need in a book through multiple genres. Yes it is a story about a crime but there’s plenty of mystery, action and thrills to keep the reader turning the pages.
I could not put this book down and I had to see how it ended.
The main protagonist is Detective Chief Inspector Kath Fortune and I liked her a lot. She has an absolute no nonsense approach to work and her home life (which we also get to explore). There was a real determination from her right from the start to bring this case to a close.
We also get to know that she hides a dark secret herself.
The story moves between various characters and between the past and present day so we get a really rounded picture of all the events leading up to Daisy’s murder and how the team are developing with the new investigation.
I also enjoyed getting to know the Cold Case team which combines old school detective work with modern day tech and the support of psychic Lane Petreus who can see things others can’t.
Unlike many crime novels I read, we got to know Daisy’s dad a little more and the pain that he has endured in the years following his daughter’s untimely death and life without his beloved wife too.
Daisy Chain is a dark and at times disturbing crime novel, with a fast and turbulent pace.
I was captivated from start to finish and would definitely recommend this book.
