Sweetharts Bakery and Coffee Shop – review
I love catching up with friends over good food and discovering somewhere new close to home is win win and I was excited to try Sweetharts Bakery and Coffee Shop.
Having some flexi time to take before my maternity leave started I arranged a long overdue catchup with my friend Farrah and her little boy Jesse, as she was still on maternity leave.
We headed to Sweetharts Bakery and Coffee Shop in Blackhill as she’s been before and said it was really nice.
It’s not far from our house and I’ve driven past a few times but never been in.
We were warmly welcomed when we arrived, Jesse was in his pram but it’s all flat so easy to navigate your way through.
The tables aren’t too close together so we had room for the three of us, a highchair and the pram.
We ordered some drinks to start and perused the menu. The breakfasts looked delicious but I was in the mood for lunch.
The sandwiches caught my eye, especially as you can opt for a stottie and regular readers will you know they are my favourite!
Sweetharts is an award winning bakery too and the smell of freshly baked bread greets you as soon as you walk through the door.
They are an award winning bakery with their baked egg custard holding a fine food gold star award for 5 consecutive years and their “Blackhill Oven Bottom Stottie” also holding a gold star award.
Everything they sell is made daily by the Sweethart bakery team.
They also sell bread by the loaf, cob, buns, plus cakes, tarts, pies, quiches and desserts.
I have to say the pastries and cakes on display also looked so tempting!
On our way out Farrah bought her other half a big slice of cake to enjoy at home.
My stottie sandwich was delicious and I had serious FOMO when I spotted two lads next to us with massive milkshakes – definitely want one of those next time!
I will definitely go back to Sweetharts, good food, good value for money and local too.

This place sounds good – look at those chips! I shouldn’t have read this at 9 in the morning, now I just want chips for breakfast 😂 I really like walking into a cafe or bakery when you can smell freshly baked bread. Delicious.

Growing up, we also had a bakery called Sweetheart’s. I love this!
