Mammy Banter is an absolute cracker of a book for any mum regardless of your age but equally you could enjoy this hilarious story without being a parent yourself.
I’ve been following Serena Terry aka Mammy Banter on Instagram and TikTok for ages and always find her to be absolutely hilarious so when the opportunity to read this book came up I absolutely leapt at it.
Terry’s fantastic sense of self-deprecating humour translates from TikTok and Instagram perfectly onto the pages of this book.
Mammy Banter is about the trials and tribulations of being a mother, a wife, a friend, a colleague, the importance of friendships and much more.
I went right through the ringer of emotions reading this book – I laughed out loud (loudly a lot) I teared up, I empathised, I commiserated, I was cheering Tara on and feeling sorry for her.
You’re up and down a lot with Tara which is exactly how it is when you’re a parent.
I could really relate to Tara as a working mammy myself – the daily struggle of not losing who you are as a person, trying to be a good mam, a good wife, get on at work, keep in touch with friends and fashion and your passions and the latest trends – it is exhausting.
Not only is Tara battling with her teenage daughter and two little boys, she is also trying to climb the career ladder, with some difficulty, trying to reinvigorate her marriage beyond a takeaway and Gogglebox and ignite some passion in her self!
Tara is so incredibly relatable – and we readers are taken on a journey where Tara tries to find herself again and deal with the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
I couldn’t and wouldn’t put this book down – it was just brilliant.
And I have genuinely not laughed so much reading a book in ages, five stars without a shadow of a doubt!
