Lunch at Tango Durham – review
We recently enjoyed lunch at Tango in Durham as a summer holiday pre-theatre treat.
Durham has many restaurants and café’s to choose from but I’d heard good things about Tango.

Enjoy one-of-a-kind cocktails on the Tango terrace, overlooking the river or just tuck in to a small plate in the bar area.
You’re spoilt for choice at Tango, plus they are family and pooch-friendly!
Our lunch at Tango
As soon as we stepped in the door we were warmly welcomed by smiley staff and shown our own booth.
We were also given an activity sheet and crayons which was a nice touch.
The restaurant is much bigger than it seems on the outside and stretches right back as well as a nice outdoor area too.
Elsie plumped for chicken and chips with a blackcurrant juice.
There were a few options on the menu that caught my eye but I opted for The Peppered Cheesesteak Sandwich and a Coke.
While we waited for our food to arrive we coloured in and sipped on our drinks.
After a short wait our food was served and we couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
Elsie said the chicken was some of the best she’s ever had and she’s a tough critic.
I thought this was a very good children’s portion and I had a taste of the chicken and it was juicy and delicious!
She wasn’t keen on the proper chips so had most of my skinny fries and I had her chips.
My sandwich was absolutely delicious I devoured every last bite.
It is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had – sliced peppered steak, mixed bell pepper, smothered with molten cheese, in a soft hoagie roll, french fries.
The steak was melt in your mouth and the sauce was packed full of flavour.
With clean plates we visited the ladies before settling the bill, they were really clean and Elsie really liked the funky taps.
Tango offer 10% discount for NHS employees on production with a valid ID so I took advantage of that.
We would definitely return and recommend Tango as a family friendly but cool restaurant.
Tango is only a short walk away from Gala Durham which is ideal if you’re heading to watch a performance or a film.
With full tummies we headed to Gala Durham to watch Peter Pan & Wendy.
