Solo lunch at The Dairy Barn – review
I recently enjoyed a solo lunch at The Dairy Barn so thought I’d share an honest review.
After my wonderfully relaxing solo Mini Spa+ experience at High Hill Farm, I wasn’t quite ready for the day to end.
So, on the way home, I decided to treat myself to a solo lunch too.
The Dairy Barn has been popping up on my social media feeds for months, and since it was conveniently on my route home, it felt like the perfect opportunity to see what all the fuss was about.

One of the first things I noticed was the large free car park, which is always a bonus.
Walking from the car park towards the café, you’re greeted by beautiful rolling countryside views that immediately make you slow down and appreciate your surroundings.
The outdoor seating area is extensive, making it an ideal spot for sunny days, and the impressive play area caught my eye straight away.
As a mam, I instantly knew I’d have to return with Elsie.
The play park looked fantastic and would definitely keep little ones entertained while grown-ups enjoy a coffee and a catch-up.
Inside, I received a warm welcome and was offered a choice of tables.
Since I was dining alone, I chose a cosy corner spot where I could settle in with my Kindle and enjoy a little people-watching.
The Dairy Barn’s March Specials menu was tempting, and after a bit of deliberation, I opted for the Mexican Chicken Toasted Wrap (£8.00), filled with chicken, salsa and Mexican cheese in a toasted wrap, served alongside salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips.
To drink, I chose a Pepsi Max.
Everything is cooked to order, but despite the café being surprisingly busy for a Thursday during term time, the wait wasn’t long at all.
I happily spent the time reading and soaking up the friendly atmosphere.
When my lunch arrived, it looked delicious.
The wrap was piping hot and absolutely packed with melted cheese.
Every bite was full of flavour, and it felt like something a little different from the usual lunchtime choices.
The salad, coleslaw and tortilla chips made it a well-rounded meal, and I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful.
Of course, no solo lunch treat is complete without dessert.
Spotting waffles with ice cream and Mini Eggs on the specials menu, I simply couldn’t resist.
When it arrived, I was genuinely impressed by the size of the portion. It was huge!
The waffles were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispness on the outside, while remaining soft and fluffy in the middle.
And thee ice cream was wonderfully creamy, and the chocolate sauce and Mini Eggs made for a deliciously indulgent combination.
I’ll admit, I struggled to finish it all, but I certainly gave it my best effort.
My solo lunch at The Dairy Barn was exactly what I needed after a relaxing spa morning.
Good food, friendly service, lovely surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
I would happily return, and next time I’ll definitely be bringing Elsie along to test out that play park.
