Silver Ring Making Workshop at The Glamorous Owl – review
We recently enjoyed a silver ring making workshop at The Glamorous Owl in Newcastle so thought I’d share an honest review.
For Mother’s Day I bought my mam a gift voucher for a silver ring making workshop at The Glamorous Owl in Newcastle after seeing my Instagram feed flooded with so many gorgeous photos and I thought it was something nice that we could do together.
We actually went on my birthday which was lovely to spend the day with my mam in my home city which isn’t something I get to do very often so I definitely don’t take it for granted.
About the silver ring making workshop at The Glamorous Owl
A perfect way to unleash your creativity and spend quality time with loved ones, the workshops are suitable for everyone as they require no experience, creativity or knowledge about silversmithing.
The team will guide you through your silversmithing experience step-by-step: from shaping and forming the piece; to soldering with a naked flame; to the finishing touches of filing, polishing and decoratively finishing.
By the end of your workshop, you will own a piece of jewellery that is truly unique and handcrafted by you.
You are given a choice of rings which includes three widths and six different finishes from simple brushed silver to herringbone finishes.
The gift voucher is sent to you in the post, and you call The Glamorous Owl directly to book in for your preferred date and time.
Silver ring making workshop at The Glamorous Owl
We were told in advance to dress in warm layers as the studio can be chilly and with it being mid-November we heeded this advice.
Attending the silver ring making workshop at The Glamorous Owl in Newcastle was an absolutely delightful experience and such a lovely way to celebrate my birthday.

Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming jewellery boutique and workshop offers a unique opportunity to craft your own bespoke piece of jewellery in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The session began with a friendly introduction from the expert jeweller, who guided us through the process with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Even as a complete novice, I felt confident under their guidance.
The workshop struck the perfect balance between being informative and hands-on, with clear instructions and plenty of room for creativity.

Each participant was provided with all the tools and materials needed to create their own silver ring, from choosing the size and design to shaping, soldering, and polishing the piece.

It was fascinating to see a plain piece of silver transform into a beautifully finished ring which I now wear every day.

My mam was an absolute pro and she was even selected to be the first one to use the blow torch!

The environment was relaxed and supportive, making it easy to ask questions or seek help when needed.
And the jeweller’s passion for their craft was infectious, and their patience ensured that everyone left with a creation they were proud of.
The workshop lasted for around two hours, and it was incredible how much we achieved in that time.

At the end of the session, we walked away not only with a stunning silver ring but also with a sense of accomplishment and a newfound appreciation for the art of jewellery making.
The Glamorous Owl is a gem of a place, and I can’t recommend this experience enough for anyone looking for a fun and creative activity in Newcastle.
Whether you’re seeking a unique gift, an engaging workshop, or simply a memorable day out, this is an experience worth trying.
