Lincolnshire Wildlife Park – review
We recently enjoyed a lovely family day out at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park so thought I’d share my honest review.

The last time we visited Lincolnshire Wildlife Park seven years ago, it was known as The Parrot Zoo and it has expanded quite a lot since then.
It is clear that they are putting in a lot of investment into the park with improvements continually being made.
The park is seemingly in the middle of nowhere and be prepared for a slow and very bumpy drive there.
Although the park is quite isolated it isn’t far from Skegness and Boston and is located between the two.
It was only a short drive from Steve’s parents home.
Within Lincolnshire Wildlife Park is the well established National Parrot Sanctuary that gives homes to parrots, parakeets, kookaburra, emu, rhea and more and is one of the largest sanctuaries in the world.

The park is actually a charity and is continually investing in the welfare of its birds and animals.

It is home to more than 1,000 parrots which are well cared for and they are a sanctuary for many re-homed pets.
Because of this a lot of the macaws and parrots will speak back to you – we got a lot of hellos and even heard some imitations of mobile phone ringtones!

As Elsie gets worn out walking we took her pram and most of the park has paved walkways suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
There are quite a few picnic tables in a couple of areas within the park and you’re welcome to bring a picnic.

Alternatively, you can grab something to eat or drink in their Rainforest Diner.
This is a really fun and well-designed café with vivariums by some of the tables where you can sit and dine next to a lizard or two.
We didn’t eat anything on this visit.
There is a bird enclosure that you can walk in and feed the birds at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park.
Elsie couldn’t believe it when the birds came over for a close look at us.

They have more than 200 free-flying birds in this cage which are mostly parakeets, smaller parrots and cockatiels.
Two in particular took a liking to me – I had one on my head and one on Elsie’s backpack!

Elsie was thrilled that after being up close with some of the parrots that we went on a tiger hunt.
During our first visit the tigers were just being introduced and now the tigers at the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park have been built a massive new home.
This is over past the lake (nature reserve) and is named Bengal gardens.

As this is a grassy walk it may not be quite as easy for wheelchair users, we managed to push the pram across well enough (Elsie was walking at this point).

It’s the biggest enclosure for tigers that I have ever seen.
Many of the tigers were tucked up indoors but we did spot a few of them outside in the grass and they looked content and weren’t pacing back and forth.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Park currently have 11 Bengal tigers.
In the tiger’s old enclosure they now have two white lions.

They also have some lemurs, Santa’s reindeer, monkeys, giant tortoises, Tapir, otters, Capybara and more.

We had a lovely time at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park with Steve’s mam and dad, we could’ve spent longer but wanted to get back for Elsie to have something to eat and a nap.
Theres a little gift shop which you pass through before exiting Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, Steve’s Mam bought Elsie a little parrot to remember her visit.
