It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Finally it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house!

I don’t know about you but I really feel like I’ve blinked and skipped right through from September to December!

Over the weekend Steve and I finally decked the halls and we are finally feel a bit more prepared for the big day.

Avid readers will know that last year we didn’t decorate at all as we had just moved into our house a mere week before Christmas so this year we definitely wanted to make up for it!

For those of you who read my Christmas wreath making post you’ll know I was so proud of myself for making such a beautiful wreath and couldn’t wait to get it on display.

With the help of some masking tape and leftover ribbon we successfully attached it to the door and it looks really good (if I do say so myself) against the red.

The weekend saw temperatures plummet and we had a real battle to go and get the tree.

With snow forecast we knew we had to get all the jobs done including buying Terrence before the afternoon.

We headed to a car garage for a quote in Newcastle, then over to Team Valley to pick up a few bits from the shops and then back home before making our way to pick a tree near Durham.

As we set off in search for the perfect tree the freezing ice rain started which makes everything super slippery and really really cold.

We found our tree and Steve managed to haggle the price down to just £30 which we thought was fair.

As soon as I stepped out of the car I was like Bambi on ice so we carefully made our way inside with Terrence.

The hunt for the tree stand commenced.

After hunting high and low we called Steve’s mam who told us the news we were dreading – it was at her house in Lincolnshire!

Arghhhhhh.

So plan B it was.

I was honestly at giving up point by now but ever the optimist Steve sprung into action.

He braved the ice rain, wind whipping his face and skated his way to the garden shed in hunt for plant pots.

We managed to get the tree standing up inside two plant pots and a plastic bag without keeling over – hurrah!

I put some Christmas tunes on and began to decorate and I’m pretty pleased with the end result.

Now we just need to finish getting the presents in and then begin the fun task of wrapping!

With less than a week to go before the big day – wish us luck!

I do hope I start feeling festive soon as disappointingly I really don’t feel it this year.
