Decluttering with Enviroclothes – review
I am a big fan of decluttering and for the first time I’ve used Enviroclothes after seeing Rachel Kershaw from Life in Geordieland sharing her experience.
Last January we decluttered the whole house in preparation for Elsie’s arrival and I shared my 10 tips to declutter your home.
I decided to do another declutter following the Christmas festivities – it’s good for the soul in my opinion – I find it really cathartic.
Elsie’s wardrobe and drawers were bursting at the seams so I tackled her room first and in just one afternoon I had almost four full bin bags.

Last year it took me a good few months to get rid of all the bags to various charity shops and I just didn’t want to do the same this year with a baby in tow, which is what makes Enviroclothes such a good option.
Please not due to coronavirus Enviroclothes have suspended collections for the time being.
You can go to your nearest drop off point or you can book in a home collection – picking a time slot that’s most convenient for you.
I’m trying to be more environmentally conscious – reducing our plastic use and not buying into fast fashion which is another reason Enviroclothes appealed to me.
Enviroclothes’ strapline is Rethink. Redistribute. Reuse.
After watching Rachel’s Instagram stories about cleansing her wardrobes and how easy an Enviroclothes collection was; I decided to book in a collection using her special promotional code which meant I would receive 50p per kilo instead of the standard 40p.
With my collection slot booked in I decided to cleanse my wardrobe and filled another couple of bin bags.

I’d actually booked my collection for Friday but was invited for Afternoon Tea at the Vermont Hotel by Kellie for later that day; so I popped Enviroclothes an email requesting to change the slot to the day before and it was no problem.
The emails were answered quickly and politely and I had a new collection slot for Thursday afternoon, again at a time that was convenient for me 2-5pm.
I had an email reminder the day before which I always find useful especially with baby brain!
At ten to two I cleared away my lunch and started bringing down the six bin bags from Elsie’s bedroom to have by the front door.

At 2pm the Enviroclothes van parked up outside the house and within 10 minutes the bags had been sorted, weighed and I received my payment.

I didn’t do anything – the driver carried the heavy bags to the van, did all the hard work, showed me the receipt which was also emailed to me, explained the process and handed me the cash – the easiest £21.15 I’ve ever made.

Next week I will have to reorganise my wardrobe and drawers (I’ve already tackled Elsie’s) but I honestly feel so much lighter letting go of old clothes that no longer fit and were taking up a copious amount of space.
I’d 100% recommend using Enviroclothes. I might not have made a fortune but honestly my time is precious and not having to drag six heavy bin bags to various charity shops with Elsie is priceless to me.
We get a variety of charity bags through the door every month or so where they come and collect them if you leave them on the path outside and I have used them in the past; but the weather has been really wet and windy the past few weeks I couldn’t risk putting the bags out and getting blown across the street.
A huge thank you to Rachel for showcasing the benefits of Enviroclothes and letting me use her promotional code.
And if you’re inspired to declutter your wardrobe it’s worth checking to see if Enviroclothes operate in your area.

Wow great job! I need to begin decluttering soon
It’s not a task I love to do but my goodness I feel so much better once it’s done!
Wow, what a fantastic idea and incentive to recycle! I’m going to send this link to my friends in the UK that have way too many clothes and are always getting rid of massive bag fulls! We humans really do buy too much stuff.
Hello Rachael. I love this! I have the same problem. I clean out my closet and then the bags of items for donation clutter my house for several weeks or more before I figure out what to do with them. I found your blog through a comment you left on Jennifer’s Unfold and Begin blog. Nice to “meet” you.
