An open letter to my daugher on her first day of school (Year 1)

This is an open letter to my daughter Elsie, on her first day of school (Year 1).

Last year I shared my open letter for your first day of reception so thought it would be nice to continue the tradition this year.

Dear Elsie,

Today, the long summer holidays have finally come to an end and it’s your first day of Year 1!

I can’t believe this time last year you were starting your very first day at school in reception and now you’re going into Year 1 – where has that time gone?

It’s the beginning of a new chapter and I’m so excited for you.

Your bag is packed, everything has been labelled and you look so smart in your uniform.

Both daddy and I can’t believe how much you’ve grown in confidence and abilities over the last year.

Your reading and writing in particular have come on so much.

We are so proud I am of the little girl that you have become.

I know you are so excited for school and that you will enjoy getting to know your new teacher, seeing your friends and welcoming the new little ones into school who start in reception.

I’m certain you will continue to thrive and enjoy learning new things.

I’m looking forward to hearing all about your first day of Year 1.

Love always,

Mammy xxx
