Our overall thoughts on A Christmas Through Time at Bamburgh Castle

Nestled on the dramatic Northumberland coastline, Bamburgh Castle offers visitors a festive experience like no other with its A Christmas Through Time exhibition.

This immersive seasonal event transports guests through the centuries, allowing them to experience the magic of Christmas as it would have been celebrated across different eras.

The décor and experience this year are completely new, with each room showcasing a Christmas tradition from the past.

Visitors travel through time, covering everything from Viking celebrations and Tudor feasts to the opulence of Victorian festivities and more modern traditions.

The event beautifully combines history and festive cheer.

Each room is thoughtfully curated, immersing visitors in the traditions and stories of Christmas past.

The grand King’s Hall, with its towering Christmas tree and twinkling lights, is particularly stunning, while the medieval kitchen delights the senses with the scents of festive spices.

Our five-year-old absolutely loved all of the Christmas trees and the Viking boat the best.

Available daily until 5 January (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day), the experience doesn’t require booking ahead, making it easy to plan a magical day out.

With interactive elements like crafts for children and opportunities to meet historical characters, there’s something for all ages to enjoy.

Don’t miss this chance to step back in time and enjoy the festive spirit in a breathtaking setting.

Bamburgh Castle truly offers a Christmas experience like no other!

The castle grounds also offer spectacular views of the Northumberland coastline, perfect for a festive stroll to round off the visit.

After exploring A Christmas Through Time Elsie enjoyed seeing all of the canons and the spectacular views from the castle walls.

We made a real afternoon of our visit to Bamburgh, after the castle we went to the nearby park which has to have one of the best views of any park in my opinion!

With rosy cheeks and tingly fingers we were gratefulf for our pre-booked tea at at The Potted Lobster before we traveled back home to County Durham.
