The Pack Horse Inn – review
We had our first visit to The Pack Horse Inn so thought I’d share our review.
I’ve driven past The Pack Horse Inn hundreds of times and thought that it always looked busy and nice.
As part of my five intentions for 2022 I want to make more memories and spend more time with family and friends.
So when our friends Emma and Ian were ready for a catchup and for us to meet their newest addition to the family, baby Matthew, we wanted somewhere easy for us all to travel to and that would be family friendly.
The Pack Horse Inn in Burnopfield is about 15 minutes away from both our homes and is very family friendly with ample free parking.
I booked our table via their website which only took a few minutes.

The Pack Horse Inn is part of the Greene King group and has:

They have an extensive menu, including for children so thought there was something for everyone and the prices seemed decent.
Our visit to The Pack Horse Inn
We were first to arrive and we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table.
Then our friends arrived, once we were settled we perused the extensive menu – there’s the usual pub classics like lasagna, steak and ale pie, fish and chips as well as skewers, chicken dishes and lots of burgers to choose from.
We’d planned for Elsie to have the tomato pasta from the children’s menu but there wasn’t any available on the day, so we plumped for her second choice fish fingers instead.
Steve and I both opted for burgers – the all-American chicken burger for yours truly and the southern friend chicken burger for Steve.
During the short wait for our food to be brought out, we caught up with our friends who are settling into being parents to two little ones now.
When our food arrived, the portions were decent and we quickly tucked in.
Elsie absolutely demolished her fish fingers, chips and beans and then wolfed down my unwanted three onion rings!
She also had some of mine and Steve’s bread buns.
My chicken burger was tasty and the bacon was well cooked, apart from the onion rings which Elsie ate, I ate every last bite on my plate.
I noticed on a poster next to Ian that they offer Blue Light Discount with a valid card so we saved 20% off the entire bill which I thought was fantastic, especially on a Saturday!
My overall thoughts on The Pack Inn
The staff were friendly and attentive and we didn’t feel rushed, especially with two young children taking their time with their food.
We all thought the food was tasty and a fair price.
It is very much your standard chain pub but no complaints from me, it was clean, a fair price and the food was nice.
The menu is really extensive so there’s something for everyone.
It wasn’t hugely busy when we were there at lunchtime but there was a nice atmosphere.
The toilets were clean when I visited and I was reliably told that the gents was too.
There’s lots of free parking and it was very wheelchair and pushchair friendly.
My only gripe was that the pasta wasn’t available, Elsie was happy with her food though!
We would visit The Pack Horse Inn again.
There’s no play area for children though, which we would have liked.
