The Lamp Room – review
To celebrate my birthday we enjoyed lunch at The Lamp Room in Seaham so thought I’d share an honest review.
It’s hard to find many restaurants open in November on a Monday but The Lamp Room thankfully is.
I’d never been before but my mam had and said it was lovely, I couldn’t wait to visit for myself.
After a busy morning enjoying some retail therapy at Dalton Park we made the short journey to Seaham with rumbling tummies.

The Lamp Room is on North Terrace facing the sea at Seaham and has a fantastic menu.
We parked in the car park near to the Tommy statue which is free which is fantastic and headed over the road to The Lamp Room.
Thankfully despite not booking in advance, we were warmly welcomed and shown to a free table fairly near the entrance so we had a sea view.
We perused the menu while soaking up the bustling atmosphere.
Steve had trouble picking just one dish as there was so much he liked the look of on the menu.
I of course already knew what I wanted thanks to thoroughly stalking The Lamp Room’s Instagram page.
We ordered drinks while Steve continued to mull the menu over – a lemonade no ice for him and a Coke for me of course.
Steve finally had a decision in mind and ordered the Dirty South Burger minus the cheese.
I plumped for the half lobster as it was my birthday after all!
The vibe was really chilled and the music was good and we took it all in.
There was a real mix of people enjoying light bites, something heartier like the parmos which looked amazing or just tucking into a slice of cake with a cup of tea.
After a short wait our meals were swiftly delivered to the table and we couldn’t wait to tuck in.
Steve’s burger was a chuck burger, pulled barbecue pork, burger sauce, onions, pickles serves with fries.
My half lobster came with a lovely little salad and piping hot fries.
I didn’t have any additional tools to get all the good lobster meat out so had to make do with my knife and fork but believe me I managed to get all I could.
Steve enjoyed his burger but some of the pork was a little fatty for his liking.
My half lobster was absolutely mouth wateringly delicious.
The accompanying salad was fresh and the fries were really good too.
Everything was piping hot when it arrived.
We really enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere and we would definitely return.
The tapas on the evening menu sounds amazing so I’d love to come back for tea next time.
While we were eating the weather had turned and the heavens had opened so a walk along the seafront wasn’t really an option sadly.
With the howling wind and pelting rain we made a quick dash back to the car before heading back home.
