Solo Simply Spa Experience at Slaley Hall Northumberland – review
I recently enjoyed a solo Simply Spa Experience at Slaley Hall Northumberland so thought I’d share my honest review.
For my birthday last year Steve kindly bought me a Simply Spa Experience voucher for Slaley Hall.
I didn’t want to go during the height of summer or wedding season so thought September was the ideal time for this solo spa day!
I’ve visited Slaley Hall a few times, enjoying Afternoon Tea, a summer soiree and a spa break with Steve but this was my first visit solo.
About Slaley Hall
Slaley Hall is a beautiful Edwardian mansion which has been extended and is nestled in 1,000 acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside.
The facilities inside the hotel are available to all guests who choose to stay in the lodges too.

Guests also have access to the health club, including a gym, heated swimming pool and relaxing sauna as well as a luxurious spa.
There’s also outdoor activities to enjoy too including fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting and lots more.

My solo Simply Spa Experience at Slaley Hall
I headed over to Slaley Hall post lunch at home, I’d had a really lovely morning enjoying podcasts and a bubble bath.
It only took me twenty minutes to drive over to Slaley and I parked up and headed straight to the spa.
I was given a warm welcome at the reception desk and checked in, I emailed the voucher over as requested and filled out the necessary paperwork in the relaxation room.
Once the paperwork was completed, I was given my robe and towel and I had full use of the facilities before my shoulder neck and scalp massage at 2:30pm.

I decided to get into my swimming costume and bag a lounger to get some reading done prior to my massage.

At 2:20pm I popped to the loo and made my way to the relaxation room to await my therapist.
Just before half past 2 Julie led me round to the treatment room.

We had a chat through what issues I felt I had and Julie checked what kind of pressure I liked and whether I had any medical conditions and so on.
Julie absolutely worked wonders on my shoulders in particular where I carry a lot of tension.
I sit at a laptop most of the day or am bent down looking at my phone editing content either for work or my blog so my shoulders do get knots.
Well my back hasn’t been this bad for a very long time – the cracking noises were a little bit embarrassing to be honest.
Julie really worked her magic on my knots and released so much tension.
The 25 minutes were sadly over all too soon and Julie left me to do some stretches before getting dressed and leading me back to the relaxation room.
I really like the relaxation room at Slaley Hall. There’s lots of comfortable seating, relaxing typical spa music playing at a nice level and fruit infused water to sip on.

After a short stint in the relaxation room I headed back to the poolside area via the small bar opposite the relaxation room.
I bought a J20 to enjoy with my book, this was very expensive at £4.20 but helped to quench my thirst.
On this occasion I didn’t go for swim but the pool is nice.
I did use the two steam rooms though which are great.

Just after 5pm I decided to finish my chapter in my book, have a shower before getting changed and heading home.
There’s Elemis products in the shower and at the sinks which are a lovely treat.
Hairdryers are also available in the changing rooms.
I was back home before half 5, I curled up on the sofa and finished my book just before it was time to collect Elsie from nursery.
It was a total self care indulgent day that was absolutely needed and enjoyed!
I would absolutely recommend the Simply Spa Experience at Slaley Hall either by yourself or with others.
