Scott and Wilson preview (AD)

Scott and Wilson preview (AD)

17th April 2019 2 By Rachael Stray

A Saturday date night spent checking out a new independent foodie place is right up my street and I was so excited to be invited to the preview evening at Scott and Wilson.*

Scott and Wilson is just a short drive from the bustling Silver Link in North Shields and is a beautiful bistro I think is worth the travel.

It’s the brainchild of husband and wife Calvin and Claire who only got the keys to the place in February.

The couple previously had a mobile business but wanted a permanent base.

After 8 weeks of hard graft and 18 months of planning the bistro opened its doors to the public on Tuesday 2 April.

So the Saturday night before it was a preview evening for invited guests and the hubby and I made the list!

I love the green colour and stripped back feel they’ve went for and the candle lit lanterns in the window help to draw people’s eye when walking past.

The real focal piece for me has to be the beautiful hand crafted bar which was made using up-cycled wood from the building my Claire’s dad and it is a thing of beauty.

We chatted with both Calvin and Claire who are just lovely before we mingled with the other guests.

Calvin is the food man and he put on an impressive spread to showcase the delights on offer in the kitchen.

The menu is varied from panini’s, sandwiches, nachos, light bites and grazing boards to their piece de resistance pinchos.

Pinchos is a snack traditionally eaten in Spanish bars and Calvin has tweaked this to create a delicious signature main course. We tried a few and my gosh delicious is the only word!

They are trying to bring a real taste of the Mediterranean to the North East and the food is really good!

And they also stock the delicious R Place donuts which I have previously reviewed here.

They are dog friendly too for well behaved pooches as well as being family friendly.

The current opening hours are:

  • Tuesday – Thursday 11am – 9pm
    Friday – Saturday -11am – 11pm
    Last food orders 8pm

Check out their Facebook page for updates.

I think we will be back, the hubby was impressed with the well-stocked bar and the food and friendly atmosphere had me won over.
