Fun fan experience at FriendsFest
Friends is still one of my favourite tv programmes so when I found out there was a festival dedicated to the show I jumped at the chance to get tickets for FriendsFest.
FriendsFest is the ultimate festival for fans of the show and I’m pleased to say it didn’t disappoint.
The hubby and I went on the first Saturday of the festival in Newcastle and had a brilliant afternoon.

The tour is also coming to Glasgow, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol and London too.
Included in your ticket price is a set tour where you get to go inside Monica’s purple apartment, have fun in Joey and Chandler’s bachelor pad and get your geek on in Ross’s.
You get to choose which time slot you’d like (depending on availability of course).

You’re encouraged to snap pictures galore but you can also pick up and sit on parts of the set – it’s really cool! You’re actually in the apartment sets and it’s like you’ve stepped foot into the tv.

Brand new features for 2018 include a full scale Ross’s apartment set, as well as a unique photo opportunity of the Friends moment voted the fans’ favourite… pivot!

There’s also the ever-popular ‘Recreate the Titles’ experience, Ross & Rachel’s Vegas chapel of love, the 80’s High School Prom photo area and of course the chance to grab a coffee in Central Perk and much more.

You can also watch old episodes of our favourite gang on a large screen and tuck into themed food too.

A replica of Pheobe’s New York City taxi is another fab photo opportunity as well as the staircase where Ross, Rachel and Chandler struggled to “PIVOT…PIVOT” a sofa up to Ross’s appartment.

We had fun dressing up and posing for photos at Ross and Rachel’s Vegas wedding, in Central Perk and inside a large version of the picture frame from Monica’s apartment door.

A special Friendsfest shop completes the festival which offers exclusive memorabilia and merchandise and serves as the exit – very clever as you just have to buy something on the way out!
I bought a T-shirt, poster and a doormat.
There’s different hoodies, t-shirts, posters, games, stationery and lots more on sale. They do take card and cash too.
I think Joey and Chandler’s apartment was my favourite as there was so much to see and do in there. We got in the canoe, cuddled with Huggsy, stroked the dog, lounged in the chairs and played some foosball.

My overall thoughts on FriendsFest
I must admit that I booked the tickets before I really knew what the festival entailed but I knew I’d have fun as I’m still such a big fan of the show.
There’s plenty to see and do throughout FriendsFest. It’s really refreshing to be encouraged and supported to take so many photos and be able to touch and be a part of the iconic sets.
Now that Friends is on Netflix a new generation of fans are falling in love with the show and this festival really helps to bring it all to life.
I liked that the set tours have a specific time and you go in stages throughout the sets so it isn’t too busy. You also have an opportunity to take photos of the empty apartments too.
Although we had eaten before we arrived there was plenty of themed food you could tuck into.
We did enjoy our cans of pop from Central Perk though!
I ran into a couple of different friends of my own who were also enjoying the festival as we sat watching episodes of Friends in the big screen.
I’d definitely recommend this festival to any fans of the show – it’s great for families too and it’s really accessible.
Tickets to FriendsFest are still available and can be bought at http://friendsfest.co.uk/ it is in Newcastle until Sunday, July 29.

Brilliant! If you do the Paramount Studios tour you can sit on *the* sofa in the set of Central Perk, which is actually very cramped.
Is it quite small in real life then?
I mean the set is cramped – it’s sort of crammed in to a corner, like a lot of sets, it’s just got one side, so it’s weird in real life! we have a photo of myself and the husband (and baby in my belly) sat on that sofa and on the bench used in Forrest Gump from that tour! the sofa itself is quite big, I wouldn’t mind one in my living room!

OMG that is so cool! I’m a huge Friends fan. Fun pics!
Thank you 🙂
Thank you 🙂
I was really excited, but Glasgow’s sold out.
Oh gutted! It might come next year? It’s been to Newcastle a couple of times.
Awesome! I’ve always fancied this. Bloody LOVED Friends. Question is, which Friend are you most like? I’m a combination of Phoebe, Monica & Joey (I don’t share food) with the sarcasm of Chandler.

This is so cool! I would LOVE it if there was a festival for one of my favorite shows.
It was really cool – I hope there will be other festivals like this for other shows.

I had not heard of this!!! It looks like so much fun! I was a huge fan of Friends when is came out, and I still watch the re-runs!
It was so much fun. I still watch the re-runs too 🙂
OMG, so happy to meet a fellow Friendsophile! I think you are too young to have been here for the original run, but I’m so glad you have found it. We could have a dialogue challenge–I know every single line of dialogue! But if I lose, I’m not giving you my house. 😉
I’m older than I look – I did watch the original run of the last couple of series for sure and re-runs of the original episodes. Love it still now!
Could I BE anymore jealous?
