Date night at The Feathers Inn – review
We recently enjoyed a date night dining at The Feathers Inn so thought I’d share an honest review.
This was our third date night last year and we decided to head out on a Saturday night to a gastropub we have been wanting to dine at for ages!

About The Feathers Inn
The Feathers Inn is a small family run pub with a big heart.

Inside there are three snug areas each with a wood burning stove.
There’s a large covered and sheltered outside yard which is open from Easter till September.
It is family friendly and dogs are welcome in the bar and outside spaces too.
Date night at The Feathers Inn
As the evening turned chilly, we were glad to be seated inside the welcoming embrace of The Feathers Inn.

Nestled in one of the three snug areas, each with a wood-burning stove, we enjoyed a wonderfully cosy setting for our meal.

We visited for the final night of the pizza oven, which operates in the sheltered outside yard from Easter to September.

While it would have been lovely to sit outdoors, the warmth of the inn made for a perfect alternative.
The menu was eclectic, showcasing the best of locally sourced ingredients.
For mains, I opted for the whole native North Sea lobster with garlic, Pernod and tarragon butter, served with chips and a green salad—a beautifully cooked, indulgent dish.

Steve chose the Haydon Bridge beef rump steak, accompanied by balsamic onions, rocket, a parmesan salad, and chips, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

For dessert, Steve had the homegrown Victoria plum pudding with vanilla custard—comforting and rich.

I went for the Italian-style chocolate tart with whipped vanilla cream, a decadent way to finish the meal.

The Feathers Inn has a reputation for excellent Sunday roasts, so a return visit is definitely on the cards.
With its inviting atmosphere and outstanding food, it’s easy to see why this place is so well-loved.
