Happy birthday wonderful husband

Today is my handsome husbands birthday so this post is a special one for him!

Just a quick warning for you avid readers this post might get a bit mushy so apologies in advance – I assure you non-mushy normal service will resume shortly.

Although this isn’t a big birthday we did want to celebrate.

We had booked a couple of days off work and decided just two weeks’ ago to book a mini staycation.

So we have just returned (yesterday) from a marvellous mini break glamping at Hesleyside shepherds huts within the breathtaking grounds of historic Hesleyside and in the heart of the Northumberland National Park.

As I’m sure many of you will know if you read my romancing the socks off Valentine’s Day post that Steve is the romantic one in our relationship; although I am trying to up my game!
He swept me off my feet with a fantastic first date and he set the bar for proposals at sunny Sandringham.

I know I am very lucky to have such a caring, supportive and pretty amazing husband (makes gagging noises).

If you read my goodbye 2017 hello 2018 post you will know that the hubby left a 15-year career and his family and friends to move 250+ miles away to relocate with me to my beloved native North East, to start a new chapter of our married life.

He’s changed his career and moved his entire life around which is pretty amazing I think!

Now the moving up north thing actually wasn’t my idea – believe it or not. It was very-much a joint decision.

We had a lovely little home in Lincolnshire and I really liked my job but it was the right decision for both of us.

We are both settling in well into new jobs and our lovely home up here.

Here comes the cliché claxon – Steve isn’t just my husband he is my best friend (no really he is). I would be lost without him and I hope he knows how much he means to me.

Now not every day is full of rainbows and butterflies – like every couple we have our moments where we are very glad our house is detached so the neighbours don’t hear a squabble or two!

But I know I am incredibly lucky that four years ago I went on a night out with my newspaper friends and happened to meet the very handsome editor of the rival newspaper group.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

So I hope my darling hubby has a wonderful day with yours truly (lucky him) and a very happy birthday.

We’re both off today so spending it together.

I’ve made a chocolate cake for dessert and we’re off for a meal at our local Italian tonight.
