The Fish Shack – review
We had a lovely afternoon at Amble and couldn’t resist lunch at The Fish Shack.
Steve had to pick up something from Facebook marketplace in Amble so we decided to make an afternoon of it.
We love to head up to the beautiful Northumbrian coast when we can and we were truly blessed with unseasonably gorgeous weather for November!
Before collecting his purchase we decided to go for lunch and were extremely lucky to nab a table at The Fish Shack after seeing great reviews online.

About The Fish Shack
The Fish Shack is a cosy, rustic eatery that was purpose built using the old ‘Sea Quest’ boat.
From fish and chips, locally smoked seafood and freshly steamed mussels to an array of delicious seasonal specials – the menu has lots of delectable dishes to choose from.
My overall thoughts on The Fish Shack
The Fish Shack is deceptively larger on the inside than it looks on the outside.

There was a lovely vibe inside and our table was next to the open kitchen and bar so we could watch all the going’s on.

The smells wafting from the kitchen were absolutely mouth watering and I couldn’t wait for our food to arrive.
Elsie and I were practically drooling as other diners meals were taken from the kitchen to their respective tables.
Everything looked and smelt absolutely delicious.
Fortunately for us we didn’t have to wait too long until our food arrived.
Elsie had the children’s fish and chips and the waitress kindly ensured her meal was served first so had time to cool before our meals came out.

I had a taste and the chips were really tasty as was the fish.
Steve couldn’t resist the beer battered cod and chips with traditional mushy peas for himself and it was a really great portion!

And I opted for the North Shields dressed crab with rosemary heritage potatoes, house salad and garlic mayo.

I hadn’t had dressed crab for years and this was absolutely delicious and the potatoes the perfect accompaniment.
My butter was just the perfect temperature to spread on the bread and the salad was super fresh.
We really enjoyed our lunch at The Fish Shack and found the staff all really friendly and the vibe cosy and welcoming.
I would definitely return.
